Shashlik and such

This weekend we made use of our fire pit again to make a traditional Russian –well more like Caucasian/ Central Asian– repast, shashlik. It was delicious!

At some point between portion one and two of meat on the grill, Sergey and our neighbor decided to take care of the tree branches that have vexed me since we moved into our house two months ago. I have ranted about them before, and I am not done yet. BUT, what an improvement!

It was a bit scary, as the branch was huge and there was lots of rope tying and careful lowering and sawing. And even with delay in shashlik making –we had to clear out of the yard for who knows where the branch may land — it was so worth it!

We have our neighbor’s yard on the agenda next; the trees are so overgrown that in the summer there is apparently no light, which is not only not good for other plants, but also is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, making it impossible to enjoy the precious city outdoor space. and of course, we will have plenty of supplies for our fire pit.
