White House Garden Tour, Washington DC

I had grand plans of painting and other house related projects, but the weekend somehow (mostly) got away. And totally worth it. Our friends invited us for a White House Garden Tour on Saturday – one of the perks of living in DC is getting invited to all sorts of neat events. I loved it, along with 5 gazillion other invitees.

see how many of them are queuing up, down and around they all went. Another perk of having friends who work for the government – they tend to know the less crowded entrances to these types of events.

This is apparently the children’s garden. Though it looks to me like I would have a grand time here as well. Reading my book, hanging out, you know.

And the famous rose garden, though I guess flowers have to change with the season. Its so neat to actually see in person the place you have seen countless time on television. Its so recognizable, but somehow feels so different.

Another famous site — the oval office. It overlooks the gardens. Pretty nice view the President’s got right there. You know what else is nice? Chinese garden stool! Just chilling on the balcony of the oval office. It’s like totally everyday home accessory, found in countless homes and gardens – right there! on the most important balcony in the world.

The highlight of the tour – the White House Beehive & Vegetable Garden – of course. That beehive’s got 30,000 bees!

Such a neat adventure one Saturday afternoon. Can it get much better than that? Thanks friends!
